Eligibility Criteria for RRC NR Act Apprentice 2025-26
Nationality: Must be a citizen of India.
Educational Qualification (Expected):
Candidates must have passed the 10th class (Matriculation) or its equivalent from a recognised Board.
Additionally, they must possess a National Trade Certificate (NTC) OR an ITI certificate in the relevant trade from a recognised institution (NCVT/SCVT).
The trade of the ITI/NTC must be relevant to the apprentice post being applied for.
Physical Fitness: Candidates must be medically fit to undergo the apprenticeship training.
2. Age Limit (as on the crucial date specified in the notification)
Minimum Age: 15 years
Maximum Age: 24 years
Age Relaxation: The upper age limit is relaxable for specific categories as per government rules:
OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
SC/ST: 5 years
Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 10 years
Other relaxations as per Govt. of India guidelines for ex-servicemen, etc., may apply.
Selection Process of RRC Northern Railway Vacancies
The selection for Act Apprentice posts is NOT done through a written examination. The process is typically as follows:
Shortlisting Based on Merit: The shortlisting of candidates is done primarily on the basis of the percentage of marks obtained in the Matriculation (10th class) examination.
Tie-Breaker: In case of a tie in 10th marks, the following criteria are usually used (in this order):
Marks in the ITI/NTC course.
Date of Birth (older candidate given preference).
Alphabetical order of names.
Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification.
It is mandatory to produce all original certificates (10th mark sheet, ITI certificate, caste certificate, etc.) for verification.
Medical Examination: Selected candidates must pass the required medical fitness standards as prescribed by the railway administration.
Final Selection: The final selection list is prepared based on merit, document verification, and medical fitness.
