Stage 2: Second Computer-Based Test (CBT 2)
Eligibility: Only candidates who score above the RRB-defined cutoff in CBT 1 will be shortlisted for CBT 2.

Purpose: This is a more advanced and post-specific test.

Number of Questions: Usually 120 questions.

Marks: 120 marks.

Duration: 90 minutes (120 minutes for eligible PwBD candidates).

Sections & Syllabus: The syllabus is similar to CBT 1 but is of a higher difficulty level, aligning with the graduate-level requirement. The questions will be more analytical and application-based.

Marking Scheme: +1 mark for each correct answer. Negative marking of 1/3 mark for each wrong answer.

Stage 3: Skill Test (Typing Test)
Applicability: This stage is only for certain posts that require data entry or clerical skills, such as Junior Clerk cum Typist, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist, etc.

Failure Consequence: If a candidate is found medically unfit, their candidature will be cancelled, even if they have cleared all other stages.

Final Merit List and Appointment
The final merit list is prepared based only on the normalised marks obtained in CBT 2.

The CBT 1 and Skill Test are only qualifying in nature.

Appointment letters are issued to candidates based on their position in the final merit list, their post preferences, and the number of vacancies available.

How to Apply For RRB NTPC Undergraduate Level Recruitment 2025

Phase 1: Pre-Application Preparation (Crucial for a Smooth Application)
Gather and prepare the following items before the application link becomes active. This will prevent last-minute rush and errors.

1. Valid Email ID & Mobile Number:

You must have a unique, active email ID and mobile number that will be active for the next 1-2 years.

All communication (registration confirmation, admit card, updates) will be sent via email and SMS.

Do not share this email/mobile with any other candidate.

2. Scanned Documents (as per specified format and size):

Recent Passport-Sized Photograph: A clear, color photo on a light-colored (preferably white) background. (Typical format: JPG/JPEG, Size: 20KB - 50KB).

Signature: Your signature in black ink on white paper, scanned clearly. (Typical format: JPG/JPEG, Size: 10KB - 40KB).

SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS Certificate (if applicable): A scanned copy of your valid caste/category certificate. For OBC, ensure it is in the central government format and does not belong to the creamy layer.

PwBD Certificate (if applicable): A scanned copy of the disability certificate issued by a competent authority as per Govt. of India rules.

Other Documents: Scanned copies of your educational certificates (Class 10th, 12th, and Degree mark sheets/certificates) may be required for reference during form filling.

3. Payment Method:

Have a debit card, credit card, or net banking details ready for the online application fee payment.

UPI (like Google Pay, PhonePe) may also be an option.

Phase 2: Step-by-Step Guide to Online Application Submission
Once the official notification is released and the application link is activated, follow these steps:

Step 1: Registration
Go to the official RRB website of your preferred region (e.g., RRB Chennai: rrbchennai.gov.in, RRB Mumbai: rrbmumbai.gov.in). A common portal link is also usually provided.

Click on the link “Apply for CEN No. XX/2025 for NTPC (Undergraduate Posts)”.

Click on “New Registration”.

Fill in basic details like name, date of birth, mobile number, and email ID.

After submission, you will receive a Registration ID and Password on your email and mobile. Note this down carefully.

Step 2: Log in and Fill the Application Form
Use your Registration ID and Password to log in.

You will be directed to a detailed online application form. Fill in all the sections meticulously:

Personal Details: Name, Father’s/Mother’s Name, Date of Birth, Gender, etc.

Educational Qualifications: Details of your Class 10th, 12th, and Undergraduate Degree (University, Year of Passing, Percentage, etc.). You will need to enter marks for each subject.

Communication Address: Your complete postal address.

Community/Category Details: Select your category (UR/SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS) and PwBD status, if applicable.

Step 3: Post and RRB Selection
This is a critical step. You will see the list of all Undergraduate-level posts (e.g., Goods Guard, Junior Clerk, etc.).

You will be allowed to select multiple posts for which you are eligible.

You must also prioritise your choice of RRBs (Regions). You can select multiple RRBs in the order of your preference.

Example: You can select 1. RRB Chennai, 2. RRB Bangalore, 3. RRB Secunderabad.

Your final post allocation will depend on your merit, post preference, and vacancy in your preferred RRBs.

Step 4: Upload Scanned Documents
Upload the scanned copies of your Photograph and Signature that you prepared earlier.

Ensure they are clear and within the specified size and format limits to avoid rejection.

Step 5: Payment of Application Fee
After verifying all details, proceed to pay the application fee.

Fee Structure (Expected, as per last cycle):

For SC / ST / Ex-Servicemen / PwBD / Female / Transgender / Minorities / Economically Backward Class: ₹250 (This fee is refundable after deducting bank charges, subject to appearing in the CBT).

For all other candidates (General/OBC): ₹500 (This fee is non-refundable).

Complete the payment using your preferred online method.

Save the payment confirmation receipt/screenshot for your records.

Step 6: Final Submission
Once the payment is successful, review your entire application form one final time. Most portals allow a preview before final lock.

After confirming that all details are correct, submit the form.

Once submitted, corrections cannot be made easily. RRBs usually open a short correction window later, but it's best to be accurate the first time.

Phase 3: Post-Application Steps
Print Application Form: After final submission, download and take multiple printouts of the final submitted application form for all future reference.

Save Login Credentials: Safely store your Registration ID and Password. You will need them to download the Call Letter for CBT 1 and for all future stages.

Check Official Website/Email Regularly: Keep a close watch on the official RRB website and your registered email for any updates, notices, or the admit card release.
